The purpose of education is to raise a new generation better than the last, just as “the waves behind drive the waves ahead.” In this work, the “waves ahead” are represented by the handprints of the principal and teachers, pressed and fired into the ceramic. The “waves behind” are the students' handprints "pushing forward." Water droplets leap in the air, floating in between and connecting the “waves behind” and the “waves ahead” as they constantly advance. It is hoped that these ever-flowing waves will continue to inspire greater interaction and responsibility in both teaching and studying.
